Medical Clinic, Almada
The medical and aesthetic clinic in Almada is a reconversion and remodelling project of a commercial space.
The area consists in a ground floor and the basement level, on the bottom floors of a residential building located in the centre of Almada, next to the popular Liberdade Square.
The brief included: reception area, various doctor's offices, treatment room, disinfection area for professionals, sterilization room, recovery room, toilets, management room, packaging of contaminated and sharp debris room, gym for pre and post- birth, babysitting room, changing room and storage.
In order to comply with access requirements, it was considered a lift to allow to disabled to get to the lower level.
In terms of materials, the choice was to have smooth surfaces, easy to clean with high capacity to wear, anti bacterial and resistance to chemical products. The colour scheme included the pastel hues of light blue and green, in white backgrounds, enabling to bring a sense of ‘calmness’.
The reception area incorporates a bespoke desk and seating zone, which maximizing the space and become a pleaseful way for the waiting area.
Inside, the feature imagery captures the attention to the ones that pass in the street. A daylight study was made to assure the best quality light to spaces and to inform the decision in making a functional layout.
The design of the front shop was equally important to manage the relation between interior/exterior. We opted for the maximum transparency (clear glazing) in the façade and introduced the ads on the inside.
The service entrance is from the rear, providing an functional efficiency in separating services (waste collection) and customers circulation.
